Grace and Solitude

Grace and Solitude Peaceful stillness covers me - wide eyes embraced when I see Luna rise up with her pale face, with a humble yet simple grace, That waxes large and then wanes, beckoning to clear windowpanes; Hypnotic awe in harvest light or when blue moons ride starry night - Teasing, changes her April name from pink to fish yet remains the same - With her ever changing shape – crescents thin to full moonscape - Now unfolds a glimmering gown while tip-toeing through a hush a bye town; No fanfare, no rockets to proclaim her silent ascent, dark skies to claim, Blesses silence – clamor sent away; nocturne opened - solitude to pray Swaddled in a silver cape – floating into dreamy escape - Breathing in her unselfish grace in borrowed light from a solar birthplace Cradled in her cradle song – soft midnight murmurs to prolong; A silent whisper – a prelude - to reverent reveries of gratitude; A gentle light - peace to expand – her solitude and grace walk hand in hand.

This is a gem Sam. A beautiful descriptive human connection with their nature and that which defines it.

John, I am so honored not only by the placement but by your "fav." Wonderful surprise. As you can see I love moonlight and its serenity, but working on the internal rhyme was so much fun! I was so hoping that I had honored the criteria for your contest. Thank you for such a beautiful theme! Stay well!

Oh. My. Word. Another favfav for me, Sam. You had me at "Peaceful stillness"! All your great moon words: Luna, waxes, wanes, crescents, full, even rockets! Seasoned with your peaceful overtones: hypnotic, tip-toeing, silence, solitude, dreamy, reveries. My favorite line "borrowed light from a solar birthplace" calls to mind II Cor 3:18. Then of course your musical nods: cradle song, prelude, nocturne. Your internal rhymes are so satisfying and your alliterations: "reverent reveries". Just wow.

OMGoodness back to you my friend. Thank you! I love moonlight and the stillness of moonlight on a clear night - clear skies, sometimes wind in the winter, but always that serenity of moonlight! Was so happy to have the chance to write about it! I love your reference to II Corinthians. Would like to add Ps. 121 - the moon tells us we are never alone - matter the stage. In college was part of an original opera with a song based on 121 - the aria, stunning!
