Grace

Thinking about the beginning. How far should any go back? Memories change through frequent recall Creating a truth rearranged in our minds. Forever shifting, forever changing Like words wiped away with the tide. What then is the truth we remember? When blended with present wants and desires? Does it not reflect vindication or pride From the shame at the time And colors our now with our past? What dwells in the past is a shadow. Of a moment of regret and pain. Confusing our feelings, invalidating reason Leaving truth written in shifting sands. When we recall a moment of failure, We change both our now and our past. We color today with the pain from yesterday And misjudge both moments as fact. This convoluted reality Viewed in the wisdom of man breaks our stride, halts our steps, bereft of purpose, Leaves us frozen in two moments of time. This pollution of our identity Tears at the sanctified mind. Mixing truth with painful memories Results in the loss of communion With perfection Divine. So should we close the doors to our memory? Wipe the traumas and tears away? Heavens no!, We can reset our view, look at it new With a Divine pleasured mind. Trust and seek the things of good value Knowing we are already as He planned. Abiding forever in the light of His love Both to will and to work His good plan
