Good Winners
Imagine if success didn’t make you cocky
or a dismissive know it all entitled to be gobby,
and your opinion of yourself wasn’t with a view
as you kept your feet on the ground where all the others do,
because you weren’t defined by that one accomplishment
stayed focus and determined with plenty more to come,
fully aware the top spot on the podium isn’t home,
where many more are destined for and lots before have known,
you are just a shooting star
burning up in the atmosphere,
soon your glow will disappear
the next champion arriving here
stay humble as you celebrate
show respect and appreciate
when it’s gone don’t fill with hate,
go again and become a great.
