Good Friday Blues
Good Friday be with you all
A once in a year Friday
Christ has been crucified
Every year for two thousand years
He doesn’t complain at all
Today is a day to fast for believers
Jesus sacrificed his flesh for us
It’s not proper to eat fresh meat today
So, I’ll leave the leftovers in the fridge
Just as Christ was hungry on the cross
Can I drink on Good Friday?
Are hard spirits ok, Holy Spirit?
He hung there on the cross thirsty
Three hours like holy smoked meat
At high noon the sun eclipsed
As the light returned and He cried
The earth shook in mourning
A soldier pierced his side
Blood and wine pour out
The Roman said the meat was done
Where was he for three days?
Was he with the Easter Bunny?
No one knows but God
The shell of a cracked man
Was placed in Joseph’s tomb
A meat in a slow cooker for three days
Then the boulder rolled away
Like an Easter egg down the hill
Then Christ rose from the dead
For 40 days He was with us
Our disbelief was our shame
He showed us how to die
On the Feast of Ascension
He left us alone once more
As he rose to be with Father
He cried thrice more
His Chuch fell apart years later
So, I drink strong spirits
On this Good Friday
To unify my body with Christ’s
On the darkest of all Fridays
Till Sunday when He wakes
He’ll find a chocolate bunny crowned
King of Consumption
Give us Barabbas
