Gone
And then you're gone
And the days are no longer filled with color
The streets returned to the same noisy chaos
The sidewalks have lost their grace
and the gardens were taken by the sand and begun to die
At least for me
The nights are darker
The moon lost its charm
There is a feeling in the air, a sweet melancholy
that dims the lights of the stars,
fills every space, and drains your will
At least mine
Life is momentarily off track
and the steps are more steep
Thoughts become a two-edged knife,
buried deep, causing more damage than it should
and hope flees to an unreachable place
At least for now
The sky is always gray
Clouds no longer make sense
and the only rain welcome is within you
to maybe wash the blues away
But not even the strongest of storms can
At least not this heart
And then you have gone
to shine elsewhere
but left behind a sublime trail
and despite the pain, there is a beacon within me
moved by the memories of our travelled horizon
and At least these will never fade away.
