Golden Memories

Reflecting on one's past is commonplace We weigh our choices with old lessons learned. When looking in a mirror at our face Our youth is scarred with wrinkles, laurels earned. Some folks will call it "living in the past" It is a fate that comes with growing old And truthfully, it all went by so fast In one eye blink, a lifetime can unfold Yet all of us are rich in memories Which seem to me, to come and go at will They are the remnants of life's vagaries We drink like wine, until we've had our fill The next time one decides to come around Be thankful for the treasure you have found. by Daniel Turner

May we all be "rich in memories" and also be generous enough to share such wealth with others... I enjoy the rhyming, the expressiveness and the wisdom that is always found in your work. Very well done, Daniel :)

Super job. It makes one miss the family and friends who used to be around. I hope all is well with you. My mom passed on her favorite day Halloween. We are celebrating the birth of my granddaughter Rhiannon who arrived yesterday. Life goes on as I spend time with family before heading back to our forty four foot Thompson Trawler. We might see a white christmas on her. Who knows. Anyway. Take care.

Lovely sonnet and I esp like the third stanza and ending…yes, still making memories here…in fact, i had to go check out your poem ‘where I call home’ to confirm my memory recall that you lived in Hot Springs Arkansas.. i will be flying there with my daughter on first October on our way to St. Louis so if you are anywhere near the Hot Springs National Park which we intend to spend time visiting, it would be nice to meet you for lunch or tea or a walk in the park :)

Sounds like a date:) I have sent you a soup mail. It's not everyone that gets to meet a handsome old man (and dog) like me (and Buddy) face to face. LOL

Older life begets a "live stream of memories" unfolding almost endlessly. We were precious once, don't forget. Tomorrow can be too. Great piece, Mr. Turner. :o)

Thank you, Deb. We spend a lot of time making memories, at some point it's time to break them out and enjoy them. I appreciate your kind comment and hope all is well with you.
