Goethe's Path
Down this winding, ancient path; a loss of space and time
This giant Sequoia forest with massive ferns displayed
It seems a prehistoric place of age long left behind
So peaceful yet so haunting, realizing not a sound is made
No scattering squirrels or chirping birds, I know I'm all alone
In this wondrous forest, time seems to have long ago forsaken
Just a fleeting thought of danger then curiosity pressing me on
Then pulsing neath my feet; the groung so faintly shaking
The silence now so deafening; this makes no sense at all
A welcomed thunder then I glimpse him coming through the trees
The quake felt and the rumble heard; my predators huge footfalls
Land of the lost this surely is, for T Rex stares at me
I turn to run but now is gone the winding ancient path
My fingers trace the invisible wall as I stand frozen in my fear
Just right there, but out of reach; my bedroom and my bath
A portal closed; perhaps a dream.. His breath felt on my ear
