God's Love Was Not In a Hurry

I felt the guilt, although it was just a dream, Telling him to "Hurry, hurry, hurry", "But Dad, I bought you a gift and I need to pay", "Just hurry", I heard myself say. How could I be so cold and uncaring, Thinking only of myself? He had bought me a gift, A gift out of love, and just wanted to pay. The guilt and shame overwhelmed me. It was only a dream, but the feeling was real, "Dad, I need to pay, I bought you a gift", "Just hurry, hurry, I haven't the time, just hurry." Then I thought of my Saviour, "Dad, I bought you a gift, the souls of men, And I need to pay", And God the Father said, "Well then my Son, go on your way." "Take the time you need and do it right", So God sent His Son to pay the price, And I awoke in a sweat at what I had heard, For God's love was not in a hurry.
