God's Image

God made us in God's image. I've heard that repeatedly. Many have come to believe that simply means that God looks like us physically. I'm a man more of science than I am of faith, but I have my own philosophy. The image of God is not in how we all look, It's How We're All Supposed To Be. Read your newspaper, listen to the news on your radio or watch it on your TV. War in the name of corporate greed, senseless torture and slavery. Crime all the time, murder, rape and mayhem. Countless children starving in poverty. All of the above has been our history and all still haunts us today presently. Is this the image of God? I'm afraid that I'd have to disagree. We have a long way to go before we can all show ourselves in God's true imagery.

Interesting, well written, I think we are created in God's image and personality. As babies we are beautiful and full of love like God then we drift away . We start out similar to God then change. The best to you and yours.

Indeed this is so. I might also add that "We create, The Image Of..." the living of 'god' can be both the most rewarding and also the most destructive of truths. My hope for humanity is to remove the 'name' Of and simply celebrate each other who are all OF. us, together. A beautiful and heartfelt write. Well done :)

Of course it is not and yes we do have a long way to go. We are not in the image of God, but I am sure there are those who try to. You, being aware of such a notion, makes one of those. I agree entirely. You got the right understanding of what the image of God is supposed to be. I am an artist and I think the same way. Thanks so much for sharing this inspiring write and thank you for your comments on my poem. A Happy Thanksgiving to you! Caroline. :)

We have conscience, freedom of choice, and other attributes that make us in God's image. We just fall short very short on being what we should be Keep the creative pen flowing for this was a very well thought out topic. Sara

Couldn't agree with your philosophy more, Bill. To be made in God's image has always evoked a spiritual concept to me, rather than a physical one. Crime is rampant now in my neighborhood and I have been very frightened since two neighbors were killed this week. Your message is one that needs to be shouted from the hilltops until everyone sees what is happening and is motivated to behave in God's image. Excellent poem! Love, Carolyn
