A living thing I am- a flower of
God's earth. I see His flowers in the field;
the God that fashioned them created me.
From seed to bud to ripened fruit I feel
the cycle shared together in the plan
of His Creation, perfect and sublime.
A living thing I am- a creature of
God's earth. I see His creatures of the wild;
I can relate to them, their inborn ways,
evolve as they in nature's outlined scheme-
of life and death, survival in between,
reflecting the sure balance of His plan.
The flowers, animals, and I, are one,
constructed by His wisdom and His love.
But I, with Human Soul, for certain, am
most blessed and wealthiest by far. For He
has given me the gifts of Faith- with Hope,
and Love, to share unselfishly with all.
A special thing I am- a child of God.

The form I used for this poem is called "Blank Verse." This form is similar to Iambic Pentameter because it is written with 10 syllables and 5 feet per line. However, no rhyme scheme is used. Stanzas do not have a set number of lines, and breaks can be anywhere within the poem where a new thought begins, much like starting a new paragraph. Blank Verse poems may be any length. Many of Shakespeare's works were written in Blank Verse.
I like this form because the poet's thoughts are not restricted by using rhymes. But still, there is wonderful cadence and rhythm with the use of the iambic meter, and the words flow and read very smoothly in a poetic fashion if written well.
