Glowing Portrait of Summer
The cloud paints the red sunset in glossed tints
While a zephyr flits unto a blue sky;
From where I lounge…the hill teems with color
And flowers of the meadows bloom nearby.
Leaves of poppies, geraniums and clovers
Swirl upward to display their varnished frame
With a majestic oak blending lightly;
To sketch a view like a portrait, aflame.
Crops rippling in the breeze grace a moon’s peak
Enchanting hues…lush fragrance down the aisle;
And summer curls around my waltzing limbs
Through quiet of night when stardust beguiles!
