Global Warming
Hot air…
We’ve got far too much of it
Rising from the un-drained swamps of Washington, DC.
Shortsighted thinkers must face long-term problems.
Masses of turbulent air from the right and the left collide
With much thunder and lightning
But without a noticeable result.
Let’s “make America great again”.
Not by buying up Greenland
(There’s not enough ice left there to cool the rhetoric!),
And not by burying our heads in aging coal mines
(They’re not deep enough to stifle the coughing sounds from above).
Rather – greatness derives from leadership
Looking forward boldly, not backward with nostalgia.
For when the winds of change start to blow loud and strong
It is better to raise a sail
And steer bravely towards the sunlit shore
Than to hide in a storm cellar.
