Gloating
Whenever everything is going my way just as I decree
Humble me Lord to pray and take the gloat out of me
When my enemies are defeated through wisdom shown
So may Your Way be greeted and Your Holy Name known
When the match has be won and no matter how heated
May I think of Your Holy Son and the way He was treated
Lord don't allow me to gloat but continue down Your road
With just a little note to self as to how much is really owed
For in the winning of such a prize or taking home that award
Please always keep open my eyes to Your gentle touch oh Lord
That the equation not contain pride nor any ego to try to defend
For that it's is You at my side is the only thing to which I depend
As surely Lord I know it is not I but the work of Your Own Hand
For surely as hard as I may try only through You can I understand
So I give it all up to You Lord in the Name of Your Sacred Heart
As so You should be adored, oh Jesus, from me never depart
Proverbs 29:23
A man's pride shall bring him low:
but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.
