Giving In
The cusp of even tide is in my veins,
It tangles with the seaweed in this heart
By drowning in these lungs to echo pains;
Giving up would drop me from the start.
I shouldn't but increasingly I will;
Determine what shall balance it the most
For every vane of doubt, I can instill
A strength to stop the rage of roller coast.
Where the waves of undulation steeps defy
Then giving up prepares us what to do
Build that dam and say, "I will not die",
Live another day and see it through.
Life was formed to thrill the go betweens'
Those death defying acts, unlike the theft
Of what I use to have, but now that means
I'm putting back what courage I have left.
