Girls and boys come out to play Put those computer games away Join with your mates and play in the park Leave those games at home until it’s dark Daylight will stop you from feeling blue A breath of fresh air is good for you Leap out of your chair and get out in the sun Get outdoors and have some fun! 4th December 2015

When I was young, parents couldn't get us in from outside. Now it's reversed.

Our lives have gotten so wrapped up with the electronic age that it is making everybody's life short. I for one need to get of my duff and walk. Very good write, Jan!

Excellent advice, Jan! I spent most of my happy childhood days playing outside; we had no extra fat left to burn! We were better off for it...and we still managed to get on well with our studies!! Hugs // paul

Every since we installed Ipads and Xboxes in the parks and on the swings and slides, well the kids just love the outdoors!

Hear, hear, Jan. I'm off outside to put up a rope swing. And you- get off to sleep, it's way past your bedtime. Viv x

I couldn't have said t better myself Jan, we have 7 grandchildren and they are lucky if they see the light of day half the time, if only they were raised the same as we were, they would be a lot healthier, they seem to spend so much time on the computers and in my mind it is not good for them.....take care.............Vera

And, while they are absorbing gadgets (as Keith said) they are, more often that not, absorbing unhealthy calories to go with their lack of exercise. Oh, how we played until dark, weather permitting. Print one million+ copies of this poem and I'll go door to door with you. Maybe it should be a poetry contest. Great one, Jan ... CayCay

God bless you for writing about this... the topic is near and dear to my heart. With the advent of technology, (I call it the dreaded 'T'), I knew things would get out of hand. I really worry for the younger generation who are absorbing gadgets as fast as new ones come out. They're being overwhelmed, and it's not their fault. Its the fault of the manufacturers with no conscience or common sense whatsoever, just an eye for the almighty dollar. I'll get off my soapbox now and say GREAT PIECE! K.

Parental figures, Jan and Keith - While not to blame, have become complacent overall while they should campaign to get their kids out. The world is such a fearful place that, that, too, stops some adults from trying. It is all JUST wrong ... CayCay
