Getting the Juice

Master Po, I humbly come to inquire of thee; Should I desire fame and fortune, will that be enough to satisfy me Should I taste of all the pleasures of this world that will avail openly ... Some come with cost, some given free ... Will I then become the man I need to be Master Po, I implore you to answer me Life and death hangs in the balance, for today, this blessed temple I now leave Young grasshopper, listen to what the wind say: The journey of life begins empty, and thus you acquire things along the way Some things are good, some things not so All things that are bestowed, you then choose to either keep or let go As for your leaving, I am happy, but saddened also Fetch my flute, and I will beseech the spirit of wisdom to follow you wherever you journey to and fro Master Po, I will do as you bid me to do, I will be honored to hear the song of the flute The fire in the temple is more alive today, let it dance the dance of life as you begin to play For once I leave this hallowed place, I vow to always remember the taste of the temple grape Grapes which burst forth the pure juice: Grapes of divine truth This poem was inspired by my talented poetic friend, Probir Gupta

Our life journey is built on choices, but definitely not on wealth, grandeur and fame. May we always make the right choices which will leave us happy and satisfied. A delightful write which reminded me as well of the tv Kung Fu series. ~ Regards // paul

I am a very ordinary person ... have been writing English poems for last two years only ... do not know much of literature ... have not read much either ... I love to feel, dwell upon and express by means of very limited vocabulary ... Freddie, I am humbled ... feel a little embarrassed too ... however, this is a great poem from your powerful pen ... obviously I am pleased to find that some of you who read me like my poems ... a great reward in the twilight time ...

Hi Freddie, Probir inspired you to write a good piece. I'm sure he will love it. As I read this well written piece I'm reminded of the classic Tv series "Kung Fu" with David Carradine. Well done:-) Alexis

Spot on, Alexis. That was the vibe I was feeling when I wrote this. The two characters in this poem are named as the same two in that great TV series. You are one sharp person. Ty for the love and support, sister. Love you always.

This brings to mind the songs of Solomon, he too had these ponderings.

Ty, Richard. We who are conscientious, ponder these things like Solomon did. Well said, my poetic friend. Love and joy to you.
