Getting Passed Being Invisible

You, ghostly, ethereal and impalpable, imaginary friend were my bond to the outside world, without you, I am a recluse, invisible, veiled, disguised to all. More than happy to live here hidden safely in this self created inner sanctum, alive in pictures and memories sustaining this inconspicuous me. The reality is I must be unafraid and open the door stand before the see through unmirrored glass and let the world see me. One step slow then quick with all you've taught I can find a way to embrace each step bravely. You were my bond that held me firm in place greeting the world as it is, as I am, as I was, now presenting me face to face to the world. Look at me, see me, don't think I stand alone an intangible presence, strength and courage is here, unseen steadfast, but obvious invisible at my side. Picture - Being Invisible

Your poem presents an uncanny reference to being invisable. Standing among a sea of strangers causes some of us to feel invisable or totally ignored. It does take courage to want to be seen, especially at social gatherings. The first step is always the hardest. Your writing seems to reflect this quite well. Thanks for sharing. ~ Sonia
