Getting On With Life

Getting on with life ain’t so easy, Because I am missing a friend, I pass the days, filled with emotion, Knowing a life had to end. Getting on with life ain’t so easy, Looking for an answer ‘cause I’m down, Hoping to God, there really is a God, To guide me enough to understand. Flowers ain’t enough to fight the tears, I’m shedding, for spending all those years, Where I’m to trade a smile, for a memory, Getting on with life ain’t so easy, for me. Getting on with life ain’t so easy, Every moment that I live now I cry, I may never show, what no one can see, A broken heart lives on the inside. Flowers ain’t enough to fight the tears, I’m shedding, for spending all those years, Where I’m to trade a smile, for a memory, Getting on with life ain’t so easy, for me.

I can empathise and thankyou for writing it. Sadly i too lost a family member at a very young age 13 yrs ago, like you say they're never forgotten. I wrote a poem about her if you care to read it..it's called Tribute to Hannah.

Hello Rachel... yes, we did lose three family members under 21, but it was a while ago and they're never forgotten. I wrote this poem for everyone who has had to go through those sad times - thank you Rachel - Lindsay

Losing a loved one is a demanding test of faith and hope; you capture that test with touching emotional power in this poem. I'm sorry you had to experience that, though it did lead you to write this gem. Hugs & Love.

Hello Paul... yes it did Paul, and it takes tragedies to understand what countless families go through when particularly young people pass away in different circumstances. This drug called ice is certainly a challenge for humanity to try and save itself from destruction - thank you Paul - Lindsay

Hello Darlene... it was a long time ago when we lost three family members at ages 21, 20, and 17, but we never forget them; but many, many families go through the same heartbreak and this poem is for all of them too - thank you Darlene - Lindsay
