Fruitless Devotion
"FRUITLESS DEVOTION"
until she leaves her mother,
she can't love me.
until she leaves her brother,
she can't love me.
until she leaves her sister,
she can't love me.
until she leaves her friend,
she can't love me.
until she leaves the need for depraved sex,
she can't love me.
until she leaves the need for attention,
she can't love me.
until she leaves her games,
lies and malevolence,
she can't love me.
until she knows that her destructive
self-indulgence is murderous,
she can't love me.
until she knows that love between two is
stronger than hate,
she can't love me.
until she stops thinking of all the things
she doesn't want to do,
she can't love me.
until she stops thinking of all the things
she doesn't want to be,
she can't love me.
until she stops being selfish,
she can't love me.
until she realizes I've made the choice to raise
her children,
she can't love me.
until she decides to appreciate me for staying in
her corner,
she can't love me.
until she knows that I saved her from herself,
she can't love me.
until she no longer needs her playground,
her audience
and her blind vengeance towards an innocent man,
she can't love me.
until her roots are pure,
our tree of love will be fruitless.
and
until she can love me for loving only her,
she will never be able to love me at all.
