From the Point of View of a Star
I sit in the sky sometimes
Looking down at the world
The universe so vast
Yet, there is something about this
Little, seemingly insignificant, planet
That I can’t get enough of
The people wandering below
Unaware of my presence
While I watch their lives
Racing from place to place
Split-second conversations
Ignoring one another
Never taking the time to slow down
They may be flawed
With war and anger and hate
But in the darkness
There is also a light
With happiness and love and family
But the ones who seem to
Capture my attention the most
Are the lonely ones
Their sad eyes gaze into the sky
Looking for answers
Or perhaps hope, love,
The warmth of a home, a friend
I am drawn to them because
I believe that they are looking to me
For these things
And although I have nothing
Substantial to give
I pray they know that if they ever need
Someone to talk to
I am here to listen.
