Friendship Bound
Friendship Bound
One day the whole of me disappeared
I was left alone in a shell of despair
with but maimed memories, confined
behind dull unbreachable walls,
trapped by fate in this cold chair
faraway within I sealed my smile
fighting invisible mad immured
in cruel moments with no escape
but when in this frozen world
you saw me bound whole you
poured your warm black soul
into mine, unfolding time itself,
back from oblivion I was brought
you tore the pain away in friendly
peals of laughter that ricocheted
in my heart in arabesque patterns,
you spun my wheels, flew me up
and down like a bubbly African spirit
in a trance, and night crumbled,
my days mended, and my smile
went sailing home friendship bound.
