Friends and Frenemies

To the friends I know Like sturdy glue Adhered to a surface very firm Never to become undone The pages turning every year creating a novel as time goes on of tragedies and joys amid the passage of time To the friends I once knew Where the the glue has become undone In words that were misunderstood Like wood Time has aged the distance Now they are far away The years of cohesion have been wasted Who were they I said in my declining years And what were their names Did we really know them in our scheme of life Just to lose them after many years But we had some good times, didn’t we? ©Ralph Sergi

Time passes and we grow older- a simple story told well. I liked this one. Allan

Sometimes people who we think are permanent drift away and others who seemed temporary became significant. Great poem.

Love the glue analogy. Again, a poem full of insight. Easy to read...
