Freedom's Cause

College students let their voices be heard As they call for freedom for Palestine Putting bodies on the line, their anger stirred With determination their hearts and minds entwine But the war machine is in full swing Of a ceasefire there is no sign As more death and sorrow those bombs bring But do the powers that be... really want freedom for Palestine?

The powers that be all indulge in wars, because producing arms is a wealthy enterprise. Superb poem.

True the war machine is in full swing. And many are involved multiple places. Hamas shouldn't have attacked Israel either. It's all bad. Well done poem :)....I pray for peace. And we just gave billions more to Ukraine. Ugh

I can relate to your dislike for the violence that's occurring on college campuses. I often ponder the same question that you did at the end of your poem. I sometimes believe the powers that be don't want peace...they want chaos..the chaos gives them a sick type of power...???

Joseph, such an excellent poem that expresses displeasure at the continuing violence and the lack of progress toward a truce while also urging Palestine's freedom.

Those that pray for peace are indeed the apple of God’s eye.
