Freedom

Dissolved in salts, sprits and holy water Stings my wide opened eyes to a deep red The visible failures of a man of faith Fear sealed lips purple blue Because I believed that for my sin the son of God bled And the road ahead will never dim And when the weight of the world brings me to my knees To the incomprehensibility beyond my human mind I call up to the heavens In a heartfelt prayer Beyond the invisible sound barrier Below my many saturated layers Of hurt Beyond the clouds to my saviour Am I heard? Here I sit is an herbal atmosphere Lost in this ever changing chemical mind map Over reliant on my worn-out subconscious To raise more unfathomable confusion And enter a debate about my existence When I’ve scratched my cranium bare bone Bit my lips to a mandible grin Chafed my nose with tapping, fingertips Of hung hands worked to the bone Drunk on fantasy High on daydreams Making nightmares of sad memories Stomping on love lost Death’s footprint Damn it!!! The answer grabs me by the throat Choking me like words never spoken Spitting the cowardliness I am proven To faces long gone That I perhaps, will never see again I hope Lying to yourself through a meaningless life Is the only way you can cope You’re slowly…dying Stressed in a pool of sweat strapped in sheets of guilt Denied by a lover’s hand besides you Quietly ignored…forgotten Midnight blankets you both with a haunting Your tossing and turning echoes in her spine With her back to your ancestors If only your reasoning could allow for that ritual To appease them both What to believe? Smog in the eyes of an old recording An ostentatious suit echoing forgotten truths From a current bestselling read??? Because nothing could have prepared me for this Human condition The overinflated ego Denial of weakness Acceptance of flaws Exaggeration of ability Development of talent Enhancement of wealth Investment in time Imagination Choice Freedom
