So as I watch life turn to ash Burn down to dust before my eyes I walk away, into the past Too torn to give up two more times The forest is so beautiful These leaves so vibrant, scarred with fire Sunset hues of summer's fall Scorch my soul with true desire Silence sleeps beneath my step As I wander 'mongst the trees Lost to time and circumstance Gone within the flame of leaves Here lies beauty. Here lies peace Inside the silence of the night Here lie secrets, softly spread Beneath the murmurings of light All is ash, as all is dust As all life fades with dying days Here I lie, and here I'll sleep Beneath the stars, my soul's true deep And as my eyes slip down to stay forever Voices, 'mongst the leaves Between the breeze I hear them say "It's better To burn out than fade away"
