why criticize when you don't even know the pain inside I feel, I do not show you just assume and think that it's alright to voice opinions though they're meant to slight why break what's left of pieces of my heart? the wounds inflicted bleed and sting and smart! I try to smile and bear this heavy pain but censure makes the doubt pour down like rain the burdens that I bear are mine alone remember dear, I'm flesh; I'm not of stone before you throw your words and run to play just stop and think of what you do and say I'm crushed; I'm hurt; I'm angry; can't you see, For you prejudged intent, but don’t know me Perhaps the lines I write reveal my soul "Anonymous" will help to make me whole I wrote of things I know of, things I've seen Perhaps a path on which you’ve never been So please take care when wanting to critique The one behind the poem’s not a freak Where would we be if great ones like Shakespeare Could not write of the gory due to fear What if his bawdy writes were censored too Would world devoid of Literature please you? So live and then let live; let poets free To write of life and death and ecstasy The words once penned will live and testify Of one who lived and now in death must lie Eileen Manassian

Bravo Eileen 'you call it as it is'. We as people have every right of expression as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. Your poem speaks the honest truth. I for one have always respected the way you have always got that point across. A fave for me...Maria

Thank you, Maria. I appreciate the visit. All life experiences give us food for thought and cause to write. Many songwriters write of life experiences that are real. At other times we take a thought and embellish it. :) Blessings

So beautifully said Eileen, sadly some never learn, belittling others is the only way they think they get attention. I love all your poetry, so diverse and no matter the topic, always so beautiful to read! Hugs!

I've been around here a long time, dear, and I've had my share of criticism. I'm still here. I will continue to be here. Thank you for the visit. Hugs

Outside of your always perceptive content there may not be anyone else with the command of meter that you have. So very well done!

Beautiful Eileen...we are on similar wavelengths...I saw a bully/troll criticising a fine poet here. I can't understand how soup let's this person to continue to belittle others after they have been banned.

I don't know how these things happen. I can understand if people have concerns about content. There is always room for dialogue then, but to just criticize and belittle out of spite should not be tolerated. Thanks for stopping by, dear.

Thank you, dear. I'm glad you like it. Writing is therapeutic for me as well as a passion. I cannot be without it, and I need freedom of expression. Hugs
