Fragile Is Life
fragile
the tiny egg
laid on a milkweed leaf
devoured by a hungry lizard
deprived of becoming
a butterfly
Life ends
fragile
the butterfly
sipping from a pink rose
becomes the feast for a sparrow
Monarch devoured in flight
That's the law of
Nature
fragile
the rose petals
cut for a crystal vase
withered and brittle, they tumble
sweet fragrance lingers on
their heads drooping
in death
fragile
the crystal vase
lies shattered on the tiles
thrown by the heart that was betrayed
prismed shards in sunlight
will hold bouquets
no more
fragile
the heart betrayed
broken from a lost love
aching for what was beautiful
but has fallen apart
emotional
turmoil
fragile
the thing called love
oft' claims us by surprise
lifting us to great zenith height
then drops us in free fall
A risk we take
for love
