Forsaken
Love bites at the heart,
bursting past all defenses.
You see it in a smile,
a glance,
a look that makes your stomach lurch.
A sentence that stops your heart.
You hear it in the whisper of her words,
the warmth of her breath on your cheek
lingering in the night.
A brief memory of her touch
sends shivers down your spine,
the taste of her lips
and the feel of her close to you.
Of all things in this world;
None do you require more
than the resplendence of her,
the brilliance of her soul.
And yet, she left tonight for good;
Another stole her heart.
One last night of passion
before her departure,
leaving you hollow and alone;
Forsaken.
