Author's Note: "Forlorn Love - A Red Rose Dead" is a special lyric poem I conceived, developed, wrote, and completed on December 12, 2018. It's the type of lyric poem that speaks to the emotions and concepts of love and lost love from the standpoint of both a symbolic and a real meaning, and how they impact the shared passion and the array of emotions that bring two people together as they seek to find and experience real love. (This lyric poem will appear in my second book of poetry, a poetry anthology, which I plan to have published and released to the general reading public by the end of this calendar year.) Enjoy the poem!! (Gary Bateman - October 4, 2020)

Forlorn Love – A Red Rose Dead Love oft finds its symbolic meaning in the beauty and grandeur of the red rose. This symbolic meaning reflects as well the true meaning of love shared by two. The magic and real passion of love itself forms the chemistry that bonds two lovers. The wondrous nature of love fires emotions as it touches the depth of the human soul replete. The innate beauty of a red rose is an image that compels star-crossed lovers so smitten by love. Alas, when a romantic love over time becomes a forlorn love, its red rose image withers and dies.
