Forgotten Souls

Forgotten Souls There are people on the streets Sitting on cement, ignored. Without a care from others Why their lives were torn apart. There are abused children Who no-one tried to save. Silence won over speaking up Some went to their graves. There are wounded animals In cages with no friend Waiting for a loving home. There are strangers who are judged By those who know nothing. There are wrongfully convicted Stuck misunderstood in their prison Unable to prove their case. We are no better than forgotten souls. Let us not forget them Or the meaning of life. To give, to love, to care, just care. For one another here. This journey is not a race and They are not merely spectators. Heidi Sands

Good morning Heidi. I just found this one and it connected with me. I used to volunteer at a homeless shelter in Pittsburgh and I've seen this side of life first hand. This is a truthful and powerful piece of work. Thank you for sharing it.

Wow,this is so true. So many people unfortunately had innocence stolen from or an immense pain break them somewhere along the road of life. Most of the time no one ever cares to discover who they really are.

I don't think anyone really wants to ignore theses people, sometimes it's less painful to look the other way and pretend the world is carefree. You might injoy my poem titled Broken People.
