Forever

Forever I promised, And with that I did not lie, I tried to break that promise, But it only made us cry. I can not come back right now, I can not leave his side, But one day when my tears fall, You’ll know it’s for you I cry. A memory of embers, A burn within my soul, It all flows back so easy with you, Close enough to hold. To hold myself back, From this relapse of my heart, It screams to hold you close, To never let you part. A million lies, A thousand memories, I once ripped them all to shreds, I left you with them, Feeling you were dead. A thousand lies, I told myself with truth to spare, My mind said to hate you, But my heart said I shouldn’t dare. I’m sure I’ve hurt you enough, To make up for the past, So maybe one day, I’ll let my heart relax. To look me in the eyes, I now see them with clarity. I need look no further, As long as you never lie to me. You’ve grown from such a child, Into a decent man, You catch me when I fall, And I will fall again. Forever I promised, And I will not lie, Forever, our love will never die.
