For The Love Of Mankind

When I'm physically no longer part of this world But look down on what's left behind The eternal hatred that will exist here forever I'm really and truly of two minds I'll miss my loved ones and wish them good fortune But a feeling of sadness fills my heart The nature of man has always been combative From way back when it all had its start Why do we possess this overpowering need To destroy all that man has achieved There's no rhyme or reason for acting this way Except for selfish ones perceived An intense desire to own other men's treasures In the name of all that is holy To kill and maim and destroy man's icons Methinks its jealousy only When I'm physically no longer part of this world But look down on what's left behind A feeling of sadness will overcome my soul As I pray for the love of mankind

Been like that since time began, it amazes me the billions spent on arms worldwide, think of what that could buy for the good of all mankind, Tom

a poignant write, dear Jack. I share your sentiments and often ponder: "Why do we possess this overpowering need To destroy all that man has achieved There's no rhyme or reason for acting this way Except for selfish ones perceived." Such a sobering reality our world is. I think, I, too may feel the same sadness when I'm gone. I imagine that God himself is sad...does mankind never learn? Thought provoking read for the day....and I'm grateful for it. Have a splendid day, Jack.

Thanks dear Sara for the positive response to my comments! It's obvious that the obvious reason why wars are fought is greed! XXX
