For the Children

They want to kill our children And burn our houses to the ground All in the name of some demon god Who tell them their cause is sound. They shoot planes down with their missiles And watch innocent lives burn up in flames Then the cowards run and hide But God remembers all their names. One day they will stand before him And give an account for all their crimes There will be a hell that will await them Much worse than any prison time. We were created to love each other And never bring harm to another soul And help others in their time of need Then our world won't lose control If hate and ignorance flourish Soon our world will melt away So lets just keep our differences to ourselves And watch our children play.

I see, read, and feel your frustration about what is going on in our world today a poignant poem you've written- and almost everyday I read something in the news that is heart wrenching because like those mentioned in your poem - they use their religion to justify all the horrendous depraved things they do - those poor children and victims...you are not alone in how you feel.

Hi Carl, violence is an unfortunate reality of our times and sadly people have become too complacent about these atrocities. If you haven't already done so, please take a look at my poem entitled, "Screaming at the Sky" which addresses this issue. Warmest regards, Pandita.
