For a Time
I found a perfect alley the other day
Where I could get blissfully loaded
And not wonder about nonsense
Like living a fool with a car and family; a
False serenity For a Time.
My cardboard walls create a mansion
In my mind where I can hide all
Of my fears and hopelessness
From the outsiders whose so called
Help is only For a Time.
Nothing can fix this hole; this void
Can only grow emptiness, filling
Me up inside like a meal.
All this pain I try to hide, force a
Smile and laugh if only For a Time.
But I stay in my cardboard kingdom
Handing down my convictions of
You who view me with disdain
And feel I am unworthy to
Walk in your world if only
For a Time.
