A young lady sitting at her table
Thinking of how her time in life was spent,
Realizing all shes been through
She bowed her head and said...
"Dear Lord I've been through much
But what I failed to see,
Was that through all my struggles
You were always there with me"
She thought of all she'd done
Of how before she blamed him for everything,
How she drifted from her faith
And how she'd taken for granted life's happenings
She wondered how she let things go
Of how she could have doubted him,
And in her sadness she lowered her head
And once again out loud she said...
"Dear Lord I've been through much
But what I failed to see,
Was that through all my struggles
You were always there with me"
As she sat there silent
She realized she felt free,
Not knowing what would happen next
A voice began to speak...
"My daughter I feel your sorrow
But you must let it go,
Now that you've spoken from the heart
I want you to listen and hear me so"
"You may have blamed me for everything
But I stood there anyway,
Because I knew you did not mean it
You always thought back at what you'd say"
"I felt the heaviness in your heart
But I knew you loved me anyway,
And when you felt you couldn't go on
You always reached out to me in such a way"
"I carried you through all your struggles
Because this is my destiny,
To help those I gave my life for
Reach the golden gates you see"
"A lot of them may not feel I'm there
But that's only because they doubt their faith,
They see not that in there struggles
I am standing not to far away"
"You may not see me and you may not hear me
But know I'm always there,
As long as you have faith in me
Two extra footprints will always be there"
