Fool's Gold

Some lessons we attempt to teach our kids, they’ll learn the hard way through experience as we did. Then we’ll hurt as their hearts break and love them as they struggle to make sense of life with all its unexpected turns, of friends and lovers who deceive and lie, who leave them feeling life is just a sham, that happiness and love have passed them by. It isn’t just the young who are deceived. We’re not immune—we who are growing old. We sometimes learn anew and feel aggrieved, for everything that glitters is not gold. Very well written and true. Janice. However, i do think at times our perceptions get jaded because we simply don't have enough information to draw a definitive conclusion. In other words, we are quick to judge. The less you know about someone or something means one bad mark weighs disproportionately heavy. Still, I do love your poem:)
