Foolish Dreams

No longer do stars carry upon their backs The dreams that once brightened my sky Innocence is lost beyond that open door On which reality opened too soon Hope has fallen from my shoulders And in its place now stands realization of imperfection The peace is gone and taken with it the empty faith That once stayed with me through the ugly Serenity has left me And the beauty in which I escaped stands tarnished All beliefs are no longer clean For they have been forever corrupted by this harsh place Everything around has become hideous And just the sight of nature fills me with grief Nothing can remain pure in a world full of hate And in this I find myself fading My heart no loner beats with longing for something true But something which I deserve more Something full of lies and broken promises Doomed am I to suffer in this prison Which I created with my foolish dreams
