Fly Away

Fly Away “Seagull, you fly across the horizon” Parallel dreams and sifted thoughts on an amber thread, thin as the beliefs once found as hope, now falling beneath sorrowed wings, gliding “Into the misty morning sun” Through hazy eyes and broken hearts, tarnished memories flow within this dawn as you fade off in the distance, soaring ever higher, disappearing into the east “Nobody asks you where you are going” Silence fills the maze that is your mind, leaving you staring at dead ends and fractured turns, as the realization that you didn’t matter forms on clouds of whispering truths…no one cares “Nobody knows where you're from” And in the end, you are not sure yourself from where you once came, a blotted image on empty shorelines of tangled debris which you easily have forgotten, as you as well will be “And you fly away…” Written with the help of lyrics (italicized lines)from Bad Company's song “Seagull” One of my faves.

Hi Chris, Many have felt like that lone seagull at one point in their lives. I know I did. Life is filled with many uncertainties and lifes path is sometimes unclear. But we must not be afraid fly.You expressed well in this written write. I am compelled to listen to the song. A without a doubt seven;-)Alexis

Hey there my sweet friend. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. I thought I would use today to maybe allow some that are in this state of mind to know that they are not alone, we all deal with these feelings at times. I appreciate you Alexis and you should check out the song. When I was performing acoustic gigs, this song was always in my set list. :)

Yes, many can feel this way and yet, you wrote it so well relating it to this great song. I love Bad Company and enjoyed their concerts.

We need that special someone with parallel dreams to join us on life's adventures...the lonely seagull drifts with the breeze but somehow never sees...

You captured every thought and emotion being back where I grew up for 3 weeks invoked in me. Excellent poem. I love Bad Company too! My parents have all their albums on vinyl so I listened to a lot of Bad Company while I was back home.

Sorry about that. :) Thanks Christy, but hey, Bad Company on vinyl...that sounds good to me. I've always been a fan, like I mentioned to Charmaine below, Seagull was one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar. I always found it to be a lonely song so that is how I wrote the poem. I am thrilled you liked it.

Heartwrenching and very sad.It gives a feeling of loniliness /sorrow/of nobody cares/of being just a number waiting for the end.I hope that seagull soars up higher than the clouds..never reaching low enough to be shot to death. A fave.

I am happy you liked this one Charmaine. I just let the lyrics dictate a feeling to me as I wrote. This song is one of my all time favorites and the first song I learned to play on guitar after Smoke on the Water. :)
