One tip I received long ago in writing "Modern Poetry" (what-ever the heck that is,) was to write new words to the melody of a song you like. Hmmm I said, I think I will try that, and so that is where FLY came from and the song was NORWEGIAN WOOD ,but it kind of loses out a little at the end a couple of lines. I think I did 2 or 3 other songs, including a Turtles song that I really like the poem I ended up with.

FLY Once there was a boy he was a king had everything he wanted to fly fly to the sky he was the king the tower he jumped from was higher than ten people high though he flapped his wings he thought this was the day he would die. He landed in straw but broke his arm not a great harm he still thought he could fly and he would he was still king. he met a poor maiden while taking a walk to the square she blew him a kiss and he followed her right home from there She had not a thing but she could sing sing to her king he gave all his gold to poor and old and she would sing together they're happy and know how it is to be poor but he doesn't miss all the fine things that he had before He wanted to fly fly to the sky look at them fly. © Ron Wilson Arbuthnot aka Vee Bdosa the Doylestown Poet
