Flooding My Backyard
Daily I check out the backyard
To see if there is a lake there
After a good hard rain, natures card
Shows critically that it does not care
I often find about three inches
Of rain water gathered about
I wish the rain would finally pinch
And keep the rain from flooding out
It does not really reach the house
Nor does it ruin anything out there
The only thing that likes this, a mouse
Knowing that it is safe from fear
I hate it when it floods like this
The yard is in such a huge mess
It warrants a special solution, a kiss
To put a drain in the middle to rest
The ground from all the water
Now it flows right through the drain
And out into a field less wetter
And it will toss away previous pain
1st attempt at "Flowing water" contest...
