Flavour Till I'M Fat

The flavour sits inside my mouth and onions linger, waiting. Am I hungry, am I waiting? What I've eaten tastes amazing. Eating more repeats the craving. Salt and fat and sugar bits, a feast of nibbles keep me waiting. What to do and what to chew? It’s never ending sating. Is my gut decided yet? How can I stop eating? Maybe I should drink a lick and make it quick, so feeling fat won't stick. Eating, eating all day long, will it make me sick? What to do and what to chew? I'm not hungry, I’m just craving! Flavours waiting! I can sit and savour this, observing, slowing, pausing time, and writing it in rhyme.

This poem is "smack on" in its description of the power of food/eating. What's remarkable, however, is the humor that shows up in virtually every line. It's a delightful read. Thank you for sharing it.

Thanks Poet Destroyer. That's a killer name. I had a read of some of yours - sex after 40 and laminated love. I really love the flow and pace of your words. Abstract and deep. Beautiful.

What a great first poem to post, Steve! And I do agree that we don't always eat from hunger, but rather just from craving...for me it's sweets. Welcome to this pot of soup, and since you love to eat, you've chosen the right kitchen to blend in with us. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Thanks SKAT. Lovely to meet you. Wow, I've seen you've written plenty of poetry. I've never thought to join an online forum of heartfelt writers. I think I've missed this for a long time, especially with the influx of mobile text writing that is so common nowadays. It's a pleasure to discover and connect with people who like to capture their experiences with real words. Steve
