Flamingo
Flamingo (Paintings by Patricia)
Fairest flamingo of my memories,
oh, I loved watching you from cool shadows
reflecting your beauty in pink and rose,
gracefully wading beneath tall palm trees.
Fairest flamingo of my memories,
your long bill traced ripples in sun-laced pools.
Slowly, you drew water colored jewels
that artfully danced with a flowing ease.
Fairest flamingo of my memories,
when I see you, I am nostalgic still
for times I’d pray for one pink-feathered quill
to float to me on a delicate breeze.
Sometimes, I can feel my summer dress blow
in pink-ruffled dreams of a little girl
waiting for butterfly wings to unfurl
and the bright-winged flight of my flamingo.
Fairest flamingo of my memories,
how you charm my dreams on a delicate breeze!
