Flame

I was blinded by her halo So I never noticed her horns Stabbing my sensibilities Like a rosebush of thorns I was blinded by her eyes So I never noticed her tail Slithering under the sheets Like a widow beneath a veil I was blinded by her smile So I never noticed her hate Stalking the black of night Like a succubus for a mate I was blinded by her beauty So I never asked her name Gasping for my last breath Like the embers of a flame
