First Picnic After Pandemic

Each step seems my first Grass bends as my Boot invades it's empire Astringent scents arise from Bruised blades Strange Piercing, those sounds of families Gathered in cheerful reunion Slowly, a newfound feeling of Enchantment goosebumps My arm As I turn and Smile At my family 05/31/21

Good Morning James - Hi. I turned to this entry because of its title. Yes, we all second your message and words and totally agree. It is two years and counting now and life hasn't returned to normal yet but what a wonderful feeling it was and is when we first gathered with our family in person. Your entry is wonderful. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy the morning and weekend. Peace and Safety to all. Take care

Pandemic changed human behaviour, it made men selfish. But family reunion after it a great pleasure. Nice

A very fine write engagingly presented. I was following your words, feeling right there with your hesitation at hearing how loud other picnickers sounded, and then warming up considerably as you see your own precious family. So well done!

Your crypt style is so impressive. with minimum words, you have expressed the thrill of your first going out to meet your family after the pandemic. You have brought in all the excitement of a toddler taking his first step. Thank you James for visiting my page. Warm Regards

Thanks for stopping by, Beata, yes, about a dz family members came, exchanged held B'day gifts, ate good food (no flour/sugar for me!) laughed, smiled, hugged & appreciated our family bond more than ever!

We are again in a "hard lockdown" due to the Delta variant being rampant among the population. I can only but dream of an idyllic experience as you described. We will be grateful when we could smile at our family - all still present after this trying time. It is the little things that I miss most: the clink of tea cups at an afternoon tea with family; the laughter of children on the school playground; the hawker shouting a list of his wares at the street corner ..."See you soon," is a wish.

Yes Suzette, frustration sets in, if gov tries to lock us down again, I don't think we will comply, rather take our chances than live in cages, could get interesting, meanwhile, gardening & picnics for me! thanks for stopping by!

I guess many of us have had a similar experience, Jim. It felt strange to walk into a market without a mask. Probably should still be wearing it as my doc is having me tested for TB. Enjoyed your poem! Hugs, CArolyn
