First Christmas Gift

First Christmas gift—God sent his son To live as man until work done. He came to us, mankind to save, So loved the world His life he gave. A gift like this, can’t be outdone. He suffered slights, task had begun To capture Earth without a gun. Our treachery the Christ forgave, First Christmas gift! Christmas is near, before it’s done We hope to find amidst the fun A gift so rare as Infant brave. A love like his we dearly crave. Why is it then His gift we shun?. First Christmas gift!

Not only is Christ's birth the first Christmas "gift," Joyce, but it is also the reason we celebrate Christmas. This is such a beautiful Rondeau and I know it will do very well in the contest. Love you, Carolyn
