Firefly

I was once a firefly, Shining brightly in the night, Flying freely over fields, Searching for another light Until the night you pulled me in, And kept me in your little jar, And told me that my light was bright, And said I was your little star But when you put me on your shelf, To light your lonely room at night, You woke to find my light had gone, For you had sealed the lid too tight No longer will I see the sky, Or fly beneath the summer stars, Because you could not let me be, When all I sought was to be free.
