Firefly

They say: if you burn, you burn fast. And live your life intense and fiery. And fierce and with all in you, And push, scream, cry and laugh and howl, and fly, fly, fly, and yell at the sun: I am here! Here! And I am alive! I circled the depths, darkness, despair. Flew right through the burning pain, And flaming madness, no hope there. Trying to climb, sliding down the slope. Lost the will to live, to burn so bright. Almost, almost. I fled the night. I circled the sun, it set me aflame, Lighted my being with colours. But it’s too fast, life too intense, It eats your soul, burns the brain, Chases beyond the senses. To burn like this, death in vain. I now circle your hearts instead. My own heartbeat is for the people who Found me, who I found, who take me For who I am, a fast burning, swiftly Changing, forever strange, but Always loving firefly.
