Finding Light

The stars do shine and twinkle A glimmer and gleam of hope But the pollution has taken over The obnoxious smog has grown far too strong My eyes cannot find the light anymore So I’ll dust off my glasses And hunt for a telescope Rummage through the aged cedar chest ‘til dawn Poke, prod, and search to find that instrument If it will return luminosity The dark only depresses And I have sunken too low The bleakness of the void will escalate Unless I discover the glow again I worry about what else I might find I have made it my mission To ignore the surprises And focus instead on that which I know Will cast me higher into redemption From a cruel world that has forgotten When I attain the object I will never let it fade
