Final Earthly Breath
Final earthly breath … incredibly wondrous
Miraculously mysterious in its release
Echoing ephemeral life’s termination
Reverberating return of the soul to the Creator
Affirming Scripture’s truth:
“To be absent from the body
Is to be present with the Lord.”*
Precious final breath … remarkably distinct
Divinely poignant with its mortal essence
Inhaling supreme goodness’ grace for the last time
Taking in blessing’s bliss toward eternity
Seizing urgent seconds to express gratefulness:
“Thank You, dear God, for great opportunities
To enjoy Your granted privileges and fulfill Your assigned roles.”
Final breath’s heave … indeed a glorious relief
Exemplified by my Dad radiating peaceful countenance
Heeding to the supreme Father’s call toward heavenly abode
Departing from his temporal residence as a pilgrim
Bidding adieu to us, his loved ones, for a while
As forever awaits in the Saviour’s magnificent celestial home
Where believers’ jubilant reunion lasts timelessly.
Oh, glorious, precious, wondrous last breath…
Am I prepared to face you? Now, I ought to be ready:
Optimizing my all to the utmost while alive and well
Exalting my sovereign Master with His entrusted performing faith
Ministering to others by His strength’s empowerment
Fully aware that “The Spirit of God hath made me
And the breath of the Almighty hath given me my life.”**
