Filled To the Brim
My heart is filled to the brim-
But tears don’t betray me
My heart is filled to the brim-
But pain doesn’t show on my face
My heart is filled to the brim-
But my mouth doesn’t show bitterness
I’m a glass within-
But without I’ll be a stone
I’m desperate within-
But won’t adorn it on the outside
I’m a mess within and on the outside though you see not-
But not too hopeless to believe better tidings are ahead
And I’ve been down the giving up road a dozen times-
But know too well giving up will only sink me
And I’m in a maze with endless rows-
But my way out is also right here
So I’ll forge ahead-
Every criticism shivering not but learning from
See I’ll take every lame you throw-
Not because I’m too weak or too strong for them;
For pouncing I can if need be-
But I refuse to give you the satisfaction to my reactions
